 Birlasoft is the first company in India to be appraised on CMMI Continuous Representation and an equivalent Maturity Level 5. Unlike CMM® assessment, CMMI® has two options - the ‘Staged Representation’ and the ‘Continuous Representation’. Staged Representation is very similar to CMM® assessment and is relatively simple. Continuous Representation is much more complex. In case of Continuous Representation, we can pick some PA’s and take them to a much higher level of maturity.
In our case, we took three PA’s, Requirement Development, Technical Solution and Verification. We decided to go for capability level 4 for Requirement Development and capability level 5 for Technical Solution and Verification. In addition to the Continuous Representation, we also decided to introduce the RUP Methodology and digitization using Mercury’s ITG Center. We have also used Six Sigma very effectively in enhancing existing processes and creating new processes. The combination of CMMI® level 5 processes, with Six Sigma and digitization has created a unique Quality Management Framework. It has set new standards for everyone else to follow. |
