Students from more than 100 colleges participated for chance to win prizes worth INR 20 Lakhs and nationwide recognition.
Pune, March 3, 2015 : KPIT (BSE: 532400; NSE: KPIT), a global technology company specializing in product engineering and IT consulting, today announced the winners of the first round of Sparkle 2015 - a national design and development innovation contest, in association with College of Engineering, Pune. Through this contest, KPIT seeks to foster a culture of innovation among engineering, technology and science students by inviting their ideas around the theme 'Towards Better Mobility and Energy'. Students are encouraged to think out of the box and solve our problems in mobility and energy.
The response was overwhelming from students spread out in 17 states in India. Over 1100 students from more than 114 science and engineering colleges submitted over 400 innovative ideas. Out of these, 60 ideas were selected for the second round of the competition. Some of the ideas selected include generating electricity from road traffic; self-healing roads; developing a handheld printer with limitless print area and low power consumption amongst others. Students from the qualifying teams have now started working on their Proof of Concepts (POC) to get their idea shortlisted for the final round.

Projects making good progress will qualify for the final round of Sparkle 2015. This will be held on 22nd of March, 2015 on the grounds of College of Engineering, Pune. Eminent judges will evaluate the projects and announce the winners of Sparkle 2015 who will win prizes worth INR 20 Lakhs and nationwide recognition. The event will be open to public.
